Halo 3 will be released soon...

It’s September 24th today. Halo 3 will be released on 25th September, just merely one day from today. It’s the game everybody is anticipating ever since the release of Grand Theft Auto IV was delayed till next year. It is expected that there will be long queues everywhere on the release date.

Now, just what is this game that got everybody excited about? If you’re still wondering, wandering about and asking, Halo 3 is a first-person shooter that follows the character Master Chief and his struggle against the Covenant and the Flood. The game’s campaign missions takes place mostly on foot, but there are vehicles you can comandeer at some parts in the game.

In Halo 3, the balance of weapons and objects in the game has been adjusted to better adhere to the “Golden Triangle of Halo”. These are “weapons, grenades, and melee”; all three of which are simultaneously available to the player at all times while on foot if they are not dual wielding or not using one of the new class of support weapons.

Halo 3 also introduces many new weapons. The weapons from Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, such as the Battle Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Covenant Plasma Rifle, Brute Shot and the Covenant Needler are back. The Assault Rifle which appeared in Halo is also returning for Halo 3.

Halo 3 introduces a new class of weapons called “support weapons”. These are a group of extremely large, powerful and cumbersome two-handed weapons that changes the camera angle to a third-person perspective when it is being used.

The two support weapons that was available in the Halo 3 Public Online Multiplayer Beta were the Machine Gun Turret and Missile Pod, although a Flamethrower also features in this class as well as a new Covenant plasma turret.

Also, this time round, when a player is carrying a second weapon in Halo 3, the secondary weapon will be stored on the character’s back (for larger, two-handed weapons) or on a leg holster (for smaller, one-handed weapons). This makes it impossible to “hide” a powerful secondary weapon and surprise unsuspecting foes.

Besides weapons, Halo 3 also introduces many new vehicles to the series. Many of the series’ vehicles such as the Banshee, Warthog and Scorpion are returning. There will be different types of vehicles, including light reconnaissance vehicles, large, heavily armored tanks, troop and vehicle transport craft, plus various atmospheric and spacecraft, although not all will be usable by the player.

There will be many gamers rushing to get their copy of Halo 3 tomorrow, on September 25. However, I think this is a little bit too hyped up. GameSpot even has a Halo 3 Launch Center. What do you think of the Halo 3 hype? Kindly give your comments on this.
