How occasionally do you blog?

How occasionally do you blog?

Well, have you ever wondered or asked yourself this question: how occasionally or often do bloggers blog? Well, if you have a blog, ask yourself, how much are you blogging? Well, are you blogging occasionally? How occasionally should you blog? Will the reader get bored of your blog if you only blog once a week? Think about that.

Personally, I blog once every two days, and if time permits, I will do so every day. Sometimes, I wonder to myself about how frequent other bloggers blog. Do they blog once everyday or twice evey week or do they blog just when they feel like doing so? Well, I happened to ahve some free time on my hands, so I went to do some research on my own.

Well, it seems that even pro-blogs and ProBloggers update their blogs only once or twice a week. However, there are some exceptions. For example, some high-trafficked sites, like Online Marketing Blog, are updated on a daily basis. So, does the frequency of your blog updates affect your blog’s ranking, authority and overall readership?

Well, I’d say Yes and No. Yes, because if you don’t update your blog frequently, it will be a dead blog, and readers don’t like that. Think about this: how many blogs that you have visited in the past few days has their newest post older than the scum at the back of your refrigerator? Quite a handful, isn’t it? However, if you make this up with great content, great writing skills and add your own style and flavour to your posts, visitors might still come to your site even if the content is a year old.

Believe it or not, many of us have blogs. Just counting WordPress blogs alone already makes up 0.8% of the web, according to a survey done by Google. The thing is, how many bloggers can actually write? And I mean, write with style and flavour. Of course, if you have blogged long enough, the thing comes to you natuarally. But for those bloggers that are pressed for time, what should they do?

Of course, if you don’t have much content, you can make that up by blogging frequently, and vice versa. Also, if you don’t have posts that stand out to the reader, you can go for eye-candy, as mentioned below. Of course, that is not recommended, because in RSS feeds only your posts will show up. After all, content is still king.

Eye-candy is an important factor too. First impressions matter as much as good and newsworthy content. If your blog isn’t powered by WordPress, do it. Get a clean and nice WordPress theme, tweak it to the maximum, and you’re ready to go! You can also post funny or appealing videos or images occasionally to interest the reader, but don’t forget some text. Also, you can add some multimedia to your sidebar to spruce up your blog.

If you have a blog, and you are not blogging occasionally, you should start now! Blog clean, and blog smart! Just remember that in a blog, content, frequency and eye-candy all count in how your blog appears to the reader. As long as you have a clean blog skin and try hard enough to blog with your own flavour on a frequent basis, you will be amazed at how your blog will eventually turn out to be! To believe it, try it out yourself.
