Teen Kills Old Woman To Pay For MMO Subscription

Will you kill an old woman to pay for your Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) game subcsription? Of course, people with a sane mind would not choose to do so. However, there seems to be some of such isolated cases in Vietnam. Apparently, a 13 year old Vietnamese boy has killed an 81-year-old woman to pay for his MMO subscription.

Vietnamese Police said that Dan strangled Mai Thi Mau, 81, with a piece of rope. After which, he took 100,000 dong (6.2 US dollars) from her before burying her in a pile of sand in front of his house on November 10. He had resorted to stealing money from her because he needed money to pay for this MMO subscription.

This is, however, not the only case of violence related to MMO gaming. Another 15-year-old boy resorted to violence to pay for his MMO subscription as well. Trinh Dinh Thanh, of northern Vinh Phuc province, was arrested after he allegedly demanded some 300 dollars from a local businessman, threatening to splash sulfuric acid on the face of the man’s 12-year-old daughter if he refused to pay.
