At last, Direct2Drive now has Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas, as well as other Rockstar Games titles, available for download.
Both Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City will be sold at $9.95, while San Andreas retails for $19.95. Also, you can buy all three for $29.95, or the Rockstar Collection, which includes Midnight Club II, Max Payne 2, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Max Payne, and Manhunt for $59.95.
The D2D download server is similar to Steam - once you purchase, you can download it onto any computer forever with the account you bought the games with. You can also back them up to disc.
I haven’t used such a service before (other than Steam, of course), so I am not sure if it would be fully modifiable and DRM free. If you have purchased them and are planning to modify them, you shall been warned! The games retail at the same price on Amazon, so you might reconsider.
